Iris Murdoch and A.W. Eaton: Thinking at the Intersection of Ethics and Aesthetics

In this recorded video, Taz Albano speaks about A.W. Eaton’s essay, “Where Ethics and Aesthetics Meet: Titian’s Rape of Europa” (2003), and Jean Tan discusses Iris Murdoch’s essay, “The Sovereignty of Good Over Other Concepts” (1967).

Speakers and bionotes:

Jean Tan is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila University. She received her PhD from Loyola University Chicago in 2009. Among the courses she teaches are ethics, metaphysics, feminism, and ancient and contemporary western philosophy. Her current research is on philosophy and autobiography in the works of Sarah Kofman.

Taz Albano is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo de Manila University. She received her PhD in Philosophy from De La Salle University in 2019. She works on topics in feminist aesthetics, philosophy of art and men’s studies. Her current research interests include feminist critiques of the body and boys’ love.
